2011 Cycling Tours | |||||
Our tours appeal to those who enjoy cycling
through the back roads of rural France, are reasonably fit, and who
wish to depart with a better understanding of Charente’s rich and
varied history, and cuisine.
Itineraies are flexible and customized to individual requirements.
Daily cycling distances range to 75km,
with both flat and rolling countryside. None of the routes
is considered difficult. Departing each morning from Lavaud,
each day’s itinerary will be different—ranging from the medieval route
of Richard the Lionhearted, to the unrivalled Roman baths at
Chassenon, from Angoulême’s gentle waterways to Cognac’s
Grand Champagne vinyards, and passing through or by the Regional
Forest of the Périgord, numerous chateaux, medieval villages,
prehistoric caves, local markets, and vinyards. A typical day
consists of 4 to 6 hours of cycling finishing poolside in the afternoon
at Lavaud.
